Using the most recent returns and fund update reports from June 2022 Quarter, we will examine Pathfinder’s recent KiwiSaver Performance.
Pathfinder KiwiSaver Scheme, formerly known as Caresaver Kiwisaver, is an independent fund manager with a strong focus on Responsible Investment (RI). Pathfinder launched three ethical KiwiSaver funds in July 2019. These funds include conservative, balanced, and growth, with 4,981 total members on 31 March 2022. Pathfinder primarily invests in high environmental, social governance (ESG) rated companies, as these types of companies are committed to generating a positive impact on the planet.
In the June quarter, the cost of living in New Zealand significantly increased due to the negative impacts of Covid-19 and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Furthermore, the Reserve Bank Of New Zealand (RBNZ) reports that inflation has reached a 32-year high of 7.3%. In response to this, the RBNZ has increased the official cash (OCR) to 3.0% percent taking it to a seven-year high to reduce inflation. Therefore, these societal and economic pressures have made it difficult for markets to perform, which can be seen in the returns for this quarter.

In recent news, Pathfinder has received numerous awards at the Mindful Money Awards event, an annual celebration of leadership in ethical and responsible investing in New Zealand.
