Using the most recent returns and fund update reports from March 2023, we will examine ASB’s recent KiwiSaver Performance.

Auckland Saving Bank (ASB) was established in 1847 and is owned by the Common Wealth Bank of Australia. ASB KiwiSaver scheme annual report shows that the scheme had over 490,000 members and managed over $14b in assets under management. With this pledge, ASB stated that its ongoing goal is to give back to the community, grow, and support the endeavours of New Zealanders.

In March 2023, ASB became a signatory of the UN Principles for Responsible Banking, a leading sustainable banking framework developed in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI). ASB is a signatory committed to demonstrating leadership in promoting banking products, services, and relationships that contribute to shared prosperity for present and future generations. ASB recognizes its crucial role in supporting positive environmental and social outcomes. To that end, they have reduced their operational emissions by over 25% in the past two years. Additionally, ASB aims to facilitate the transition to a low-emissions future by offering discounted lending options to help customers minimize their environmental impact.

The ASB Cash Fund aims to provide exposure to a portfolio of investment-grade short-term deposits and fixed-interest investments with New Zealand registered banks by investing in a target investment mix of 100% income assets. The Cash Fund has a 3-month return of  1.16% and a 1-year return of 3.17%, higher than the since-inception return of 2.78%.
