I never take advice from someone I don't trust. Irrespective of their credentials and experience, if I do not trust someone - I know that I will not be able to stick to their advice in the long term.
I have a principle I am a firm believer in. I call it the Trust Equation. Integrity, Communication and Empathy into Time is equal to Trust. It's a way of building Trust between any two individuals, in this case you and me.
