So let’s say you’ve filled out our KiwiSaver HealthCheck. You understand that by doing so, you can get free financial advice regarding your KiwiSaver.

You are aware that there are over 30 different KiwiSaver providers out there with hundreds of funds between them. All of them have different investment processes, offer different advantages and suit some people better than others.

Additionally, you understand that when choosing a fund, you should take into account factors such as returns required, time horizon, volatility tolerance and management style of the fund. This way, you can be confident you have considered everything you need to to make an informed decision.

So because of this, you’ve chosen to fill out our KiwiSaver HealthCheck. This will allow us KiwiSaver experts at National Capital to help choose the right fund for you.

However, you want to know a bit more about what happens after our HealthCheck is filled out. As a result, you ask, “So, what actually happens after I fill out your KiwiSaver HealthCheck? And how do I get this free financial advice?”

That’s a fair question. So this is why this blog post was created.

But before we go into that, we need to quickly remind ourselves why the KiwiSaver HealthCheck exists.

Why our KiwiSaver HealthCheck exists

The process of finding a suitable fund can be daunting and overwhelming. After all, you need to research different fund providers to find the best ones for you. And some people don’t know where to start.

Even if you do get started researching funds, halfway through the task, you might decide that it’s too time-consuming to choose a fund and so you just choose one at random. By choosing a fund at random, you will most likely be in a fund that isn’t best for your set of circumstances.

So that’s one of the reasons why our KiwiSaver HealthCheck was created. It was made with the idea that Kiwis could have a simple way of getting free financial advice.

It isn’t too complicated to fill out. All you have to do is answer some questions about your financial situation. By doing so, we will have the information needed so we can give you our recommendations. You can read more about what is in our KiwiSaver HealthCheck here.

Our KiwiSaver HealthCheck is free because we get paid a fee by providers for giving you financial advice and crafting a personalised financial strategy for you. Learn more about how we get paid by clicking here.

So what happens after our KiwiSaver HealthCheck?

After you complete our KiwiSaver HealthCheck form, four steps need to be taken. They are as follows:

Step #1: Book a time to receive a free phone call from one of our financial advisors

The picture below shows the first page you will see after you fill out our KiwiSaver HealthCheck.

Once you’ve completed our HealthCheck, you will be directed to a page like the one below. Click that blue “When May I Call You?” button and schedule your appointment.

You will then be directed to a page where you can book in a time to talk with one of our financial advisors. If you need some time to think about this, we will send a follow-up email where you can also book a call. There will be a wide range of times to choose from so you should be able to find one that suits you.

This page will look like what is shown in the picture below.

Step #2: Turn up to your scheduled appointment time

The second step is to turn up to your call at your scheduled appointment time. The financial advisor you are working with will call you.

We will take you through our recommendations step by step and additionally, if you have any questions, you are encouraged to ask away! Our financial advisors will be happy to answer them for you.

The call can last for as short as 15 minutes, or for as long as an hour, depending on how much time you’ve booked. Feel free to take as little or as much of your appointment time as you need.

Step #3: Choose whether you’d like to implement the advice we give you

The next thing to do is to decide whether you’d like to follow through with the advice we give you. If that’s something you’re interested in, we can help you with that.

If you choose to do that, that’s great! Below is a table showing what will happen. Don’t worry - this process is simple and we will help you out with it.

If you need time to think about whether you’d like to take on our recommendations, you are welcome to do that. There are no obligations on you to decide immediately. We understand that it can take you time to process the information that we give you.

Even if you decide to go a different route and do something else with your KiwiSaver account, that’s perfectly fine too. You are free not to take our advice.

Keep in mind that if you change your mind later on, you can always get back in contact with us. If this occurs, we would still open to helping you implement our recommendations.

Step #4: National Capital reviews your KiwiSaver account regularly

If you choose to allow us to be your advisors, we will be able to review your KiwiSaver account regularly. And again, this is still for free.

This means that if your KiwiSaver provider is no longer suitable for you, we will let you know about it. This means you do not need to look at your KiwiSaver investments as heavily - we will do a lot of the monitoring for you.

In a year, we will also get in contact with you to review your financial situation. If anything significant has changed, we may update our recommendations for you.

If a drastic change in your circumstances occurs, please let us know so that we can determine whether it changes our recommendations for you. This may include a significant loss of income or if you are permanently emigrating to another country.

Below is a table summarising this information.
